School holiday time – book their FREE eye test!
Poor eyesight can have a significant effect on children’s ability to learn and on their behaviour – yet often goes unrecognised by teachers, parents and by children themselves.
Many parents assume that their child will have their vision checked at school but in reality the provision of vision screening is patchy. Even in those areas where screening is provided in school, it is only designed to pick up amblyopia (poor sight in one eye) and does not asses if the eyes are healthy, if glasses are needed, or if there are any colour vision defects – all of which can be identified by your Optometrist.
Including an eye test in your back to school routine is a great way to ensure that your child’s vision is not forgotten about. At Haine & Smith opticians we provide free eye tests through the NHS for children up to the age of 16 and students under 19 in full-time education. Plus, if children need glasses they can even choose from a selected range for free.
