Meanwhile, Practice Manager Lucy Chapman was named as Top Employee of the Year. Ms Chapman has been praised for the progress she’s made since joining Haine & Smith as an Optical Adviser 6 years ago. Promoted to Manager at the Cirencester branch in June, she runs a practice which is highly efficient yet warm and friendly.

Optical Adviser Sandra Penfold who has recently completed 10 years with Haine & Smith received ‘The Rupert Smith Memorial Award’ in recognition of her contribution to the day-to-day running of her practice in Chippenham. This award is given in memory of Rupert, Barry’s son who was training as an Optical Adviser when he died in an accident during 2001.

Barry says;  “We are extremely proud to give these awards to Lucy, Sandra, Marlborough and Amesbury practices this year; their commitment to providing exceptional customer service has been inspirational. As a firm we invest very highly in the training of our staff and the annual awards are a way to recognize and celebrate their success.”

Help for Heroes

Haine & Smith were delighted to present a cheque for over £770 to the charity Help for Heroes thanks to the generosity of patients.

Haine & Smith’s Rachel Wheeler (pictured 2nd right) who visited the charity’s office in Tidworth explains that people often like to make a donation after calling into a Haine & Smith practice perhaps to have their glasses cleaned or for some advice. “It’s fantastic that via our collecting tins we were able to handover such a large sum, indicating just how highly our patients regard the valuable work of Help for Heroes”.

Help for Heroes says; “We provide direct and practical support to our wounded, injured and sick military personnel and we could not continue to do so without the support of companies and their amazing staff. Help for Heroes is incredibly grateful for the wonderful support Haine and Smith have given to our charity.”
