NHS Test
The government is keen to ensure that everyone has the option of eyecare and through the NHS, it provides free eye tests for:
- Children under 16, or people under 19 in full time education.
- People aged 60 or over.
- People receiving (or the partner of someone who is receiving) Income Support, Pension Guarantee Credit or Income-Based Job Seekers Allowance.
- People entitled to, or named on, a Working Tax Credit Exemption Certificate or a Child Tax Credit Exemption Certificate.
- People with certificate HC2.
- Diabetics.
- Glaucoma sufferers and their close relatives aged over 40.
- People registered blind or partially sighted.
- People entitled to NHS complex lens vouchers.
People in categories 1, 3, 4 & 5 who are entitled to an NHS voucher may choose a complete pair of spectacles from a selected range, free of charge.
