NHS Test

The government is keen to ensure that everyone has the option of eyecare and through the NHS, it provides free eye tests for:

  1. Children under 16, or people under 19 in full time education.
  2. People aged 60 or over.
  3. People receiving (or the partner of someone who is receiving) Income Support, Pension Guarantee Credit or Income-Based Job Seekers Allowance.
  4. People entitled to, or named on, a Working Tax Credit Exemption Certificate or a Child Tax Credit Exemption Certificate.
  5. People with certificate HC2.
  6. Diabetics.
  7. Glaucoma sufferers and their close relatives aged over 40.
  8. People registered blind or partially sighted.
  9. People entitled to NHS complex lens vouchers.

People in categories 1, 3, 4 & 5 who are entitled to an NHS voucher may choose a complete pair of spectacles from a selected range, free of charge.
