Keeping you safe

Updated 13th July 2021

The government has stated that health and care settings in England should continue to maintain appropriate infection prevention and control (IPC) measures. Therefore, please understand that we continue to implement the following, for the safety of our patients and our staff.

Limited Capacity

We are open, but we are limiting the number of people in our practices. We have to prioritise patients who have appointments booked. If you arrive at Haine & Smith and the door is locked, please knock and we will assist as soon as possible.

Keeping Clean

To keep our patients and staff safe, a lot of our new ways of working involve even more cleaning than before. Everywhere a patient goes, our staff will clean. We clean our examination rooms, the equipment, chairs, frames, lenses and tables. We do all this to make sure we are doing our best to keep our patients and staff safe. We have invested in ultrasonic cleaners for frames. We know our patients want to try frames on to see how they look and feel. With an ultrasonic cleaner, we can gently clean any frames that have been touched, and they will be clean and ready for the next person that would like to try them on.

Please wear a face mask when visiting us, unless you are unable to do so. PPE is all about adding another layer of protection. Our staff have been given masks, gloves, face shields and aprons. While not all of these are required for all our staff, we have made sure that everyone is provided with the PPE they need to keep our patients safe.

Markings on the Floor

At times, we can all forget what 2 meters actually looks like, so like many businesses, we have placed markers and lines on the floor to help our patients judge two metres.

Washing hands is still an important protection against COVID-19 and our staff continue to practice good handwashing techniques when not wearing gloves. We have also set up hand sanitizer stations at the door to all our practices to make sure patients coming in can use the sanitizer.

Testing The Temperature

Prior to coming in for an appointment, we ask that patients who are exhibiting any symptoms let us know, so we can re-arrange the appointment. We also measure the temperature of every person who comes into practice to make sure they are not showing one of the symptoms of COVID-19.

Our guide to your appointment

As there are a number of changes to the way appointments are booked and how they will look, we have created this guide to take you step by step through the process.
