Practice Manager - Tetbury

Full Time, including some regular Saturdays

Scope

As Practice Manager, you will be responsible for dispensing spectacles and providing support and guidance to practice staff. Being pro-active, recognising the importance of high-quality care and customer service will inspire your team to always aim for the highest standards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Working Monday - Saturday with a day off midweek
  • Usual working hours of 9am-5:30pm
  • To ensure practice efficiency and compliance with Company procedures
  • To ensure total customer satisfaction with products and services
  • To be an effective leader, motivating, supporting, training and developing staff
  • To ensure patient numbers and sales targets are maximised
  • To be responsible for quality control in all areas
  • To manage stock control
  • To maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the practice
  • To be responsible for health and safety standards across the practice
  • Working with the Marketing Team to maximise marketing effectiveness at a local level, identifying opportunities and creating appropriate campaigns
  • To identify and drive cost efficiencies
  • To ensure that the sale and supply of spectacles and Contact Lenses only takes place under the supervision of a registered optician for children under the age of 16 years and those who are registered sight impaired (partially sighted) or severely sight impaired (blind)
  • Interpret optical prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists
  • Give advice to patients on lens type, frames and styling

Personal Specification - Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous management experience would be desirable, or a proven track of managing, engaging with and developing a team
  • Strong background in customer service
  • The ability to handle dispensing tools confidently with dispensing experience which includes:
    • The ability to interpret optical prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists
    • Give advice to patients on lens type, frames and styling
    • Take frame and facial measurements to ensure correct fit and positioning
    • Advise patients when adjustments or repairs to spectacles are needed
    • Select, manage and order a range of optical products
    • Order lenses from prescription houses
    • Check lenses on delivery to ensure that they meet the required specifications
  • Proven track record of driving business performance through sales, customer satisfaction, cost efficiencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to put the customer first and act in a professional manner in all situations, able to act with tact and discretion
  • Positive and outgoing
  • Flexibility – able to be flexible on days worked and providing cover to other practices in the local area
  • Well-presented and professional
