Practice Manager - Tetbury

Full Time, including some regular Saturdays


This is a key role within Haine & Smith, where you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of one of our Practices. Working closely with the Partners and Leadership team to ensure the smooth running of all practice operations and the efficient delivery of patient care at the highest level.
As Practice Manager, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to practice staff, be pro-active and recognise the importance of high-quality care and customer service and you will inspire your team to always aim for the highest standards. You will also be accountable for practice performance, coordinating rotas, staff development and will play a key role in growing the Practice to exciting new levels. You do not need to be a Registered Dispensing Optician with the GOC - but this would be preferred.

Main Responsibilities

  • To ensure practice efficiency and compliance with organisational procedures
  • To ensure total customer satisfaction with products and services
  • To be an effective leader, motivating, supporting, training and developing staff
  • To realise the full potential of the practice with regard to patient numbers and sales targets
  • To achieve maximum profitability
  • To be responsible for quality control in all areas
  • To manage stock control
  • To maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the practice
  • To be responsible for health and safety standards across the practice
  • Working with the Marketing Dept. to maximise marketing effectiveness at a local level
  • To drive cost efficiencies
  • Dispensing spectacles to prescriptions
  • To ensure that the sale and supply of spectacles and Contact Lenses only takes place under the supervision of a registered optician for children under the age of 16 years and those who are registered sight impaired (partially sighted) or severely sight impaired (blind)

Personal Specification - Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous management experience would be desirable, or a proven track record of developing and supporting staff
  • Strong background in customer service
  • Experience of driving business performance such as sales, customer satisfaction and cost efficiencies
  • Strong leader, able to motivate and engage with staff at all levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to put the customer first and act in a professional manner in all situations, able to act with tact and discretion
  • Positive and outgoing
  • Flexibility – able to be flexible on days worked and provide cover to other practices
  • Well-presented and professional
  • Attention to detail
  • Qualified Dispensing Optician registered with the GOC - preferred but not essential
