Guide Dogs UK

We are delighted that Guide Dogs UK will be our Charity of the Year for 2017/2018.
Every hour another person in the UK goes blind. Guide Dogs UK are here to make sure they do not lose their freedom as well.

Guide Dogs UK now have over 5000 working guide dog partnerships in the UK, with over 40 in Wiltshire alone. Each partnership costs just under £55k during its working lifetime and they rely solely on donations and legacies to help supply their life-changing services.
There is no upper or lower age limit to owning a guide dog, people in their nineties have become successful guide dog owners as well as children as young as eleven. You do not need to have lost all your sight to own a guide dog, most people who own a guide dog still have some vision.

Charitable Trust

At Haine and Smith Opticians, we have always enjoyed being involved in the communities surrounding our practices and in 1995 we established our Charitable Trust.
Its goal was simple: To invest back into the local communities, which are home to our loyal patients and employees who support us. We have been delighted to have helped so many local organisations over the years.

To date, we have made over 600 donations to a variety of worthy local causes including charities, schools, youth groups, homes for the elderly and hospitals. To see some of the latest projects that have benefited, take a look through The Charitable Trust Album on our Facebook page.
