Dispensing Optician – Full Time, Wiltshire

Scope

This is a key role within Haine & Smith, where you will be responsible the dispensing and fitting of spectacles and other optical aids, to both adults and children, working from the prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists, ensuring the delivery of patient care at the highest level. As a DO at Haine & Smith Opticians you’ll be pro-active and recognise the importance of high-quality care and customer service. You will be enthusiastic with a passion for optics.

Main Responsibilities

In addition to the normal duties of a GOC registered dispensing optician, you'll need to:
  • Ensure practice efficiency and compliance with Company procedures
  • Ensure total customer satisfaction with products and services
  • Be an effective motivator, supporting, supervising, training and developing staff
  • Realise the full potential of the practice with regard to patient numbers and sales targets
  • Achieve maximum profitability
  • Be responsible for areas of quality control
  • Ensure that the sale and supply of spectacles and Contact Lenses only takes place under the supervision of a registered optician for children under the age of 16 years and those who are registered sight impaired (partially sighted) or severely sight impaired (blind).

Personal Specification- Skills, Knowledge and Experience

As well as being a qualified Dispensing Optician registered with the GOC, you'll need to have:
  • A strong background in customer service and commitment to customer care

Practice Manager – Full time, Wiltshire

Scope

This is a key role within Haine & Smith, where you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of one of our Practices. Working closely with the Partners and Leadership team to ensure the smooth running of all practice operations and the efficient delivery of patient care at the highest level. As Practice Manager, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to practice staff, be pro-active and recognise the importance of high-quality care and customer service and you will inspire your team to always aim for the highest standards. You will also be accountable for practice performance, coordinating rotas, staff development and will play a key role in growing the Practice to exciting new levels.

Main Responsibilities

  • To be an effective leader, motivating, supporting, training and developing staff

Marketing Manager (Full time Monday - Friday) based at Pewsey with regular travel.

Scope

Responsible for managing the partnership’s marketing initiatives. Uses market research and analysis to direct marketing strategy and planning. Oversees the production of all promotional materials and marketing campaigns. Reports marketing and sales results to the SMT and Partners.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support practices in their marketing needs in an efficient and timely way
  • Developing the marketing strategy for the partnership in line with the partnership’s vision, values, objectives and brand guidelines
  • Manage and implement the Marketing promotional calendar that delivers targeted marketing activity that drives brand awareness, saliency, consideration, eye test volume and conversion
  • Prepares and manages public relations, activities and communications for the partnership (or contracts with and provides oversight to outside agencies), including press releases, other partnership announcements, media materials and coordination with any outside PR consultants
  • Designs (or contracts with and provides oversight to outside vendors to design) print and online advertising and negotiates media buys and associated contracts.
  • Designs (or contracts with and provides oversight to outside vendors to design), updates, and maintains online and print marketing and business development materials for the partnership, including partner and employee profiles, practice descriptions, brochures, and electronic newsletters. Also, oversees mailing list creation and updates.
  • Designs artwork and selects products for promotional use at tradeshows, presentations, etc.
  • Manages the firm’s web site via a content management system, social networking for the partnership and its employees (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.), and other electronic communications, including drafting and updating content and images, evaluating effectiveness, drafting and implementing policies, and working with outside technical and design consultants as needed
  • Assist and implement in-store marketing sales tools to enable the customer journey with the Purchasing Manager
  • Assist and design patient recall communications with the Technical Director
  • Coordinate charity campaigns and work alongside the H&S Charitable Trust’s Clerk to the Trustees
  • Working with our suppliers and design agencies to effectively manage all marketing aspects of product promotions, launches and highlights to help drive our range differential, in-store conversion and additional sales
  • Manage effective cross-functional communication to ensure all relevant departments are aligned in the delivery of in-store campaigns, product launches and customer experience projects
  • Innovate and implement store-briefing tools for activity, which will cut through and educate the target audience
  • Keep up to date with products, services, promotions and tools other Opticians are offering and inform other departmental managers where appropriate
  • Effective budget management and a proactive approach to cost control
  • Working on a one-to-one basis with local branch managers to drive and implement local initiatives and lead generation campaigns
  • Oversees the organisation of the business development/client services functions, events, and opportunities for the firm receptions, conferences, seminars, and other special firm-sponsored events.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and makes recommendations for firm participation in sponsorships, conferences, tradeshows, speaking and writing opportunities, and similar events. Coordinates activities (RSVPs, promotional products, advertising, presentation slides, etc.) as needed. Promotes speaking engagements as appropriate.
  • Planning and delivery of PR and social media activities
  • Producing reports to monitor results of all campaigns and promotions
  • Line management responsibility for the Digital Officer

Education & Qualifications

  • Degree calibre
  • CIM qualification desirable

Experience & Knowledge

  • Able to lead a marketing function, including strategy development and planning.
  • Previous experience in an end-to-end marketing campaign management role with strong knowledge of marketing principles
  • Demonstrable experience or ability to think outside the box and challenge the norm
  • A strong sense of commerciality
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally
  • Experience of developing a brand, including evolution and application of brand identity and guidelines

  • Familiar with SEO and Google Analytics including ability to set goals, interpret metrics, and implement projects that will improve online performance and visibility
