Supporting The Trussell Trust - let’s end food poverty in the UK
We are delighted to announce that together with Nikon Lenswear UK, we raised over £14,000 for The Trussell Trust. Over the summer months, Nikon made a donation for every pair of SeeCoat, SeeMax Sports, eLife Pro and Polarised lenses that we sold in our practices. We would like to thank you all for your contribution as we strive to support ending food poverty in the UK.
Here at Haine & Smith we passionately believe that no family should go hungry. Thanks to you, this vital donation will go to support food bank centres across the UK that provide emergency food to those facing hunger and poverty.
For three months our teams worked vigorously to highlight this important cause. You may have seen signage in your local practice as every member of the staff was dedicated to promoting the campaign.
More than 14 million people in the UK live below the poverty line. Every person’s struggle with poverty is different and it takes more than food to end hunger. The Trussell Trust brings together the experiences of over 1,200 food banks and their communities, to challenge the structural issues that lock people in poverty and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
Every donation supports these food banks to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis, as well as support to help people resolve the crises they face (such as financial or moral support, beyond food
